The goal of The Scary Guy Social Network is to harness the cognitive capacity that lives within each individual to create peace within themselves. This network of people, who seek to learn about themselves, will help the world heal.
A few years back you came to our school (Orwell High School) and did one of the assemblies; and I’d like to say that you are a great inspiration.
I was bullied a several years ago (and it carried on for 2 whole years), and was getting to the point where I was being ganged up on and assaulted nearly daily, so I have had experience with this kind of problem.
The hard work you do is phenomenal, and It’s great that there are people like you out in this world today to try make peace, and I really want to wish you luck with eliminating hate in this world.
Here in England, every day on the news I hear about a fatal stabbing, and quite frankly it sickens me that people would do such things.
I have been trying to do my bit in helping people; as often on msn I get people talk to me about their problems (be it relationship problems, bullying, self harm and in a few cases.. worse); from this they pass my msn address on, and I find myself helping more and more people; now I talk to people worldwide and help them, and now I would guess I’ve helped in over 3000 problems – so someone like you has been a great inspiration to me!
Thanks for all the hard work you put into this world! It certainly has helped me and I’m sure millions of other people,
Dan
== Dear Scary Guy,
I have just checked out the reviews of you visiting Whitecross School - Hereford.
All I can say is that I wished that there had been some one like you whilst I was at secondary school.
I am 40 now and still partly affected by the 4 years of hell that I went through at school.
I realise you would of heard this all before - but there was only 2 days in those 4 years that I did not go home without fresh bruises on my body and it was never 1 on 1 more like 6 against me, I did not stand a chance.
I have just a video clip of you telling some children about a girl who took her own life because of the bullying that she received. It is scary to think about it but I have lost track the number of times I tried to take mine.
PLEASE CONTINUE YOUR WORK, I KNOW THAT YOU SAY THAT YOU WANT TO BE ABLE TO EFFECT THE WORLD. BUT IN MY EYES IF YOU SAVE ONE LIFE, YOU STOP THE LIVING HELL FOR ONE. THAT IS AMAZING.
I thank you humbly and from the bottom of my heart for what you did and taught me and Michael today. You took time out of your enormous schedule, looked and took upon my little one-person soul - and actually came to my home to spend your time and share your mind-heart and soul with me and Michael. WOW.
I will never ever forget today and what you taught me, and know that I am a better person-wife-mother-daughter etc. .. because what you so openly shared with me today.
Great gratitude, great humility and thankfullness; I extend to you my friend. If you find youself here in this town and need a place to bow your head or take a rest or have a meal; MY home/abode is open to you.
A great soul entered my home today and a then great soul left, ( as a flower shares its beauty all day but at night must close its aromatic buds and rest after the glory of its day) that is you!!!. And you left me a better person and with lessons to grow and learn with. And, my friend,
I love you!!! What a blessing and gift you are!!
Sincerely,
Janet Michael

Breakfast Programme The Scary Guy in Hereford
He's covered from head to toe in tattoos and piercings and he's been in Hereford on a mission to help kids deal with bullying and take control of their lives.
The Scary Guy certainly lives up to his name - he's six feet tall, his body and face are covered in tattoos - but his message is very much "What you see is NOT what you get." The Scary Guy The Scary Guy at Whitecross School
BBC Hereford and Worcester caught up with him while he was spending the day talking to the children at Whitecross School in Hereford.
He says he understands the way people sometimes react to his appearance:
"I am different looking, and a chose my looks… sometimes I get some very strange reactions to the way I look.
"Sometimes I get some really good ones – people walk up to me and say 'Wow Dude, I really love your tattoos.' – but a lot of the time people have a hard time coming to terms with why someone would do this to themselves.
"Some people say 'I'd hate to meet you in a dark alley.' I say to them 'What are you doing in a dark alley in the first place?'"
He has an amazing background; born in Minneapolis, he's been in his time a baby portrait photographer, a computer salesman, and was a tattoo artist who owned three tattoo parlours.
His own body became the canvas on which he's drawn the story of his life.
"People say "I'd hate to meet you in a dark alley" I say to them "What are you doing in a dark alley in the first place." The Scary Guy
Since 1998 he's been on a very ambitious mission, as laid out on his website - 'The Total Elimination of Hate, Violence and Prejudice Worldwide.'
He believes people are unaware of how they are using negative energy to meet their needs, and he teaches them how to overcome this.
"What we're going to do is to empower all those kids' minds to make choices about who they are, rather than becoming what they hear.
"Just like you choose an apple because you think 'Wow that’s a really great apple – I'm going to take a bite out of that.
"Nobody force-feeds you a rotten apple - just because you see it doesn't mean you're going to eat it."
He spent the whole day at the school - working with all the pupils - and there was an evening meeting as well.
He was confident that he's got his message about positive energy across.
"I had a fantastic response from the kids – there was dead silence for 90 minutes and the kids were really locked into the message, and you could see a lot of of the words that I was saying… made a lot of sense to them." 10 YEARS AGO ! ! ! ! Hello Scary, I met you about 10 years ago at Harding High in St.Paul MN . I was the little blond girl who walked you around the school. You changed my life that day. I wrote about you for the school news paper and i believe my teacher sent it to you. I know I would not be the person I am today if I had not been inspired by you when I was. My life was on its way to some very hard times. Going through everything I did I kept eveything you said in the back of my mind. "Every tear drop has a story to tell" Those words alone have gotten me through some hard times. I got through all the clouds and have tryed to share your message to make me a better Big sister, and mother. I believe that if more people were more open minded we wouldn't have half the issues we have today . Thank you for inspiring me Angie Hammerlindl St Paul
Welwyn Hatfield welcomes the Scary Guy
Date 4.23pm, 13 March 2008
Welwyn Hatfield’s Community Safety Partnership last night hosted a presentation by the Scary Guy (real name change!) – a 280 pound American man whose face is emblazoned with tattoos and peppered with piercing. Despite his appearance his mission is clear: the worldwide elimination of hate, violence and prejudice.
Welwyn Hatfield’s Community Safety Partnership - your partners for a safer, stronger neighbourhood
Born Earl Kaufmann, Scary Guy has faced prejudice in his own life and he now uses his experiences in schools, communities, law enforcement agencies and businesses worldwide to teach others how to take responsibility for all their own words and actions.
The audience included representatives from Hertfordshire Constabulary, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, Connexions, Women's Refuge, YMCA, a counsellor, teachers and some teenagers.
County Councillor Richard Smith, the Chair of the Welwyn Hatfield Community Safety Partnership, said: “Scary Guy is the perfect speaker for the Community Safety Partnership to endorse as his key themes relate to bullying, anti-social behaviour and fear of crime – issues that the CSP is very concerned with. I hope that this will be the first of many visits to Welwyn Hatfield and we are exploring the possibility of getting Scary involved in local schools.”
Community Safety Sergeant Lara Stevenson, who organised the event, said: “I met Scary Guy at Hertfordshire's Anti-Bullying Conference last year. I was struck by how his appearance engages his audience so quickly and also by how simple his messages actually are. His 'New Effort for the Elimination of Anger, Hate, Violence and Death' is such an innovative approach and such a worthwhile message, that I wanted to bring it to Welwyn Hatfield.
“A particular focus of the evening was bullying. In 17 years as a Police Officer I have witnessed and dealt with incidents of bullying, both in the work place and in schools. The level of suffering that is caused to both adults and children simply cannot be ignored.
“I have been astounded at the response to this workshop and I believe it is not only indicative of how widespread the problem is, but also I hope how ready people are to accept new ways to face and deal with bullying. Enforcement is not always the best option and it certainly isn't the only one. I hope that those attending will take away Scary's messages to both their personal and professional lives.”

The Scary Guy
WHAT would be your first impressions of a man who stands 6ft tall, is covered by tattoos, has piercings over his face, and whose name is The Scary Guy?
Initial thoughts which entered my head were that this man was some sort of thug-like character who wouldn't have been out of place in a wrestling ring.
On first seeing him I thought he was a convict who couldn't have been long out of jail.
How wrong first impressions can be.
In fact this man, who officially changed his name from Earl Kaufmann in 1998, is a campaigner for the elimination of anger, hate, violence and death worldwide.
Despite having a face emblazoned with tattoos and piercings and one of the most unapproachable names you are likely to come across, his message is clear: don't judge a book by its cover.
The 54-year-old travels the world giving inspiring speeches to schools, social services, prisons and detention centres with the ambition, in his own words, to "change the mindset of the world."
On Wednesday evening the American stopped by at Campus West, WGC, to give a conference to police officers from Herts Constabulary and some county councillors - but not before speaking exclusively to the WHT.
He said: "I focus on showing children and adults how to love and accept everybody no matter who they are or what they look like.
"I want people to understand that they can be who they want and not to react to how other people think they should be.
"I get to work with people all over the world and I never got any of my knowledge from books, I got it all from the street, just by being with people and taking in their life stories.
"Whenever I leave somewhere I will always get letters from people who I left, I get about 4,000 letters a month.
"I got a letter once from a mum who had seen such a change in her son and she was thanking me, and I had never even met this woman."
Scary has been taking his talks over the world since 1998 and has calls to visit 75 countries.
His message to the police force in our county was simple: "One man can not take away all the violence and hate on his own, I need your help to eradicate the anger.
"People can watch films and play computer games these days where they can see a million ways to blow a person up, but it is my efforts I want to share with you to change the mindset.
"People may think I am scary, but I am the new face of love."

Scary Guy tells kids like it is
A six-foot tall, tattooed and pierced giant has visited a school to speak about prejudice, hate and bullying.
Internationally recognised behavioural expert, The Scary Guy, paid a visit to Oakgrove School on Monday.
MK News - Scary GuyBorn in Minnesota and easily recognisable from his fully tattooed face, he has travelled all over the world and spread his global mission for 'The Total Elimination of Hate, Violence and Prejudice Worldwide.'
He spoke to an audience of 350 children and teachers from the school to discuss topics such as bullying, prejudice, anger, hate and violence to highlight the effects on individuals.
The Scary Guy's physical appearance of a six-foot tall, heavily built figure, tattooed and pierced from head to toe illustrates his key message of acceptance.
His manager, Gary Lee said: "When The Scary Guy walks into the room people create their own judgements.
"Without saying a word, The Scary Guy has made his point.
"When he begins to talk and interact with his audience, people see a totally different person from the guy that just walked through the door, which is the message we want people to listen to - highlighted by the classic phrase of 'don't judge a book by its cover'."

What our part may signify in the great whole we may not understand; but we are here to play it, and now is our time. This we know, it is a part of action, not of whining. It is part of love, not cynicism. It is for us to express love in terms of human helpfulness."
